Although I love teaching and giving back to younger generations of musicians, I have a strong passion for performing as well. I have an extensive performance background in jazz, classical, and popular music. My performance experience includes sessions with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the classic 60's rock band The Buckinghams, California Transit Authority featuring Chicago co-founder & Rock & Roll Hall Fame inductee Danny Seraphine & Grammy Award Winner/Chicago alum Bill Champlin, Motown legend & Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Recording legend Lou Christie, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Rascals with Felix Cavaliere and Gene Cornish, Memphis Music Hall of Fame members the Box Tops, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Little Anthony & the Imperials, Chicago's own Blooze Brothers Band, & the House Band at Buddy Guy's Legends. Various other artists I have shared the stage with include the Ides of March, the Shadows of Knight, New Colony Six, the Cryan' Shames, Jay and the Americans, & Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night. I lead my own small jazz ensemble the Swing Collective, and I am also frequently called on to sub with numerous jazz, rock, & blues bands in and around Chicago.
I am currently on staff at Komarek School in North Riverside where I instruct all instrumental music courses and ensembles. In addition to teaching at Komarek, I also currently serve as adjunct professor of saxophone at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. My duties at Benedictine include teaching applied saxophone lessons to music majors and minors, establishing a curriculum for the saxophone studio, and preparing students for their final playing examinations each semester. I am active as a saxophone clinician and adjudicator throughout the Chicago land area. I currently maintain a private studio for young saxophonists in the Chicago suburbs; my teachings focus on fundamentals, tone, expression, and on developing proficient technique thru the study of classical and jazz literature. I am currently sponsored by Conn-Selmer, Inc. as an Artist-Endorser, and I am proud to perform on and endorse Selmer saxophones.
